Here is how to be her dream travel date...

Are you planning an upcoming romantic getaway with the woman you love? Are you just weeks or days away from that special getaway with the love of your life? I bet you want to impress her and give her a getaway she will never forget. If you really want to make this trip special and be her dream travel date, you should know a few things first.

Focus on her only. This trip is about the two of you. Do not spend it talking about other people, past romances, or the boys at work. Forget about talking on your cell phone while on your romantic vacation. This is your special time together, and she wants to feel like you are paying attention to her and enjoying the time alone with her. You should also pay attention when she speaks, look into her eyes, and really listen to what she is saying.

Leave the TV (and other gadgets) alone. Even if there is a TV in the hotel room, you need to avoid vegetating in front of the 'boob tube' and spend some time with the woman of your dreams. If she suggests you order a movie or watch something together, then go for it - but avoid your urges to watch the football game or your favorite Friday night sitcom while on your romantic vacation. You should also avoid computers, email, PDAs and other electronic devices that detract from your time together and give the impression you do not fully enjoy her company.

Bring her a sincere present. Surprise her with a special present to commemorate the vacation together. You might get something sexy and romantic - or maybe something special that she has always wanted. A great tip is to really think it out and get something distinctive that has meaning as opposed to just a quick store-bought item that will not mean as much. You can bring along a surprise gift in your bags - or find (or make) something while in your destination location. She will be impressed by your thoughtfulness.

Surprise her with something less traditional. If you really want to show her a fabulous romantic time, you might mix things up. Try something different and original. You might plan a bicycling adventure or a day of white water rafting. You might enjoy a night of 'roughing it' by camping out together or sleeping out on the beach. Surprise her with a skydiving adventure or something else that is fun and exciting. She will be sure to remember this trip for many years to come.

Remember to be yourself. Some men still feel the need to show off and try to impress their women, no matter how long they may have been together. Remember that if she invited you on the trip with her (or agreed to go with you), then there is obviously something about you that she likes. Do not try to overdo it or act like someone else to impress her. Just relax, show her your true self, and have a great time. She will see your sincerity and match it with her own.

If we would only give, just once, the same amount of reflection to what we want to get out of life that we give to the question of what to do with a two weeks' vacation, we would be startled at our false standards and the aimless procession of our busy days. -- Dorothy Canfield Fisher
