What to Pack for a Romantic Getaway

   By Kathy Steinemann

Everyone will think of the obvious for their romantic getaway suitcase - elegant lingerie. There are eye-popping products available for both women and men. This article lists a few more items that you may not have considered.

Everyone will think of the obvious for a romantic getaway suitcase - elegant lingerie. There are eye-popping products available for both women and men.

The list below contains a few more items that you may not have considered:

1.) Scented candles. Be careful. They weigh a lot, so do not pack too many. They may not be permitted in some hotels or inns. Ask in advance.

2.) Edible bath gel

3.) Other edible products and clothing: Use your imagination and do a little research on the Internet. Chocolate body paint, anyone?

4.) K-Y Touch Massage Warming Jelly: Besides the obvious use as a personal lubricant, this product warms up when you apply it to the skin. Use it for rubdown of sore muscles or for sensual body massage. K-Y can elevate the touch experience to a completely new level.

5.) Small CD or MP3 player (or similar equivalent) with accompanying music that will help set the mood.

6.) A romantic card game or adult board game. These can be purchased at adult boutiques (or online).

7.) If you plan to spend any time in the sun, remember sun block. Sun can age the skin, so check labels carefully and pick a product with a high SPF (sun protection factor). Raging sunburn is not conducive to romantic interludes.

8.) Buy a few small gifts to take with you. Wrap them in adult gift-wrap. These little surprises are great for leaving on the pillow before you retire for the evening (or afternoon, or ...) Make sure the gifts are not in your carry-on luggage. Wrapped items may have to be unwrapped at customs for inspection.

9.) Digital camera or mini-cam? Photos and video recordings can show up in unexpected places (like the Internet). So if you plan to record intimate moments, do so with caution.

A caveat is in order here. If there is any chance you will be in a situation where you will have to open your suitcase and display the contents - at customs, in the airport terminal, etc. - use caution! You might not want to pack anything that will embarrass you in front of officials and other people who may be within eyesight.

Use common sense. Some items may actually be confiscated if they are deemed dangerous or inappropriate. (You will have more leeway with checked luggage than with carry-on bags.) There are travel tips here on transportation security and prohibited items that may be helpful.
