More Romantic than an Airport Shuttle!

   By Kathy Steinemann

Crowding into an airport shuttle with other passengers doesn't foster the most romantic of moods. Who knows in advance what kind of people you will be forced to share the vehicle with? Consider an alternatives.

Crowding into an airport shuttle with other passengers does not foster the most romantic of moods. Who knows in advance what kind of people you will be forced to share the vehicle with? Maybe Aunt Tillie, who likes to chat endlessly about her grandchildren. Or Greasy Gilmore, who ogles every female that walks by. Perhaps Belching Bob, who ate too much chili at his last stopover - with the aura of garlic and flatulence to prove it.

The shuttle may stop several times along the way. It may not have the most comfortable of seats. Some shuttles may actually travel several blocks out of their way to get to some of the hotels on their route.

So, avoid the hassle - and take a taxi?

Who knows what kind of a taxi driver you will hire? He could be just as chatty as Aunt Tillie or as gassy as Belching Bob.

The solution? An airport limousine service. Doing Internet searches like 'airport limo service', 'airport limousines', or 'limousine search' will bring up literally thousands of sites.

You should ask some important advance questions when you book your limo:

1.) Do they have comprehensive insurance?

2.) Do they have a written guarantee and/or contract that you can view ahead of time?

3.) Do they belong to a national certifying agency that can provide references?

4.) Do they have 24-hour contact information?

5.) What do they provide for the agreed upon fee? (how many hours, extra amenities such as chocolates, flowers, champagne, etc.)

6.) Exactly what type of vehicle do they provide?

7.) Do they have an online brochure with pictures of the limos and details about the company?

8.) Is there a privacy screen/barrier? Bar? Mood lighting?

9.) What happens if your plane arrives late?

If you are renting the limo for your honeymoon or wedding, color might be important to you. Check on that as well.

If you have booked accommodations at a bed and breakfast inn, the inn may have a limo available (sometimes at no extra charge). Be sure to ask when you make your reservations.
