  • Decide on a realistic budget.
  • Book a ceremony location and introduce yourself to your registrar, justice of the peace, or local minister.
  • Book a reception venue you like the look of.
  • Line up entertainment for the reception, such as a DJ, vocalist, musician or a band.
  • Choose your caterer on an empty stomach (when food never looks better!).
  • Book a photographer.
  • Book the videographer for your wedding video DVD.
  • Book your honeymoon and remember this mantra ... 'tickets, money, passport'
  • Choose a wedding cake.
  • Book a hotel room for the wedding day evening.
  • Begin your quest for the perfect dress, be it designer, handmade, or commercial.
  • Assign duties to your wedding party and cherish the hugs or stroke bruised egos.

  • Have your dress fitted and choose your shoes and accessories.
  • Select the clothing for the groom, best man, bridesmaids, ushers, and relatives.
  • Notify whom it may concern that you may be changing your last name.
  • Order invitations and stationary.
  • We advise you take out wedding insurance just in case.

    4 Months Left to Go

  • Arrange seating order with the caterer and reception location.
  • Take along a picture of your dress to the hairdressers and choose a hairstyle.
  • Why not have a makeover while you're out and about (it is your big day after all).
  • Book a beautician for the wedding day.

    3 Months Left to Go

  • Acquire your marriage license.
  • Send out the invitations.
  • Create a wedding list and make it available to your guests.
  • Confirm details with all your booked services.
  • Decide on hymns and music for the ceremony.
  • Arrange and print out your order of service.
  • Buy gifts for the best man, ushers, and bridesmaids.
  • Plan your hen and stag parties at this point.

    1 Month Left to Go

  • Arrange for your final dress fitting.
  • Reconfirm all with your service providers (caterer, florist, photographer, videographer, reception entertainers, ceremony leaders, and transport).
  • Reconfirm honeymoon plans.
  • Enjoy your hen and stag nights.
  • Finalize seating plan.
  • Arrange a rehearsal date.
  • Reply to guests who have responded.
  • Write speeches.

    7 Days ...

  • Have the rehearsal.
  • Pack for your honeymoon.
  • Break in your wedding shoes.
  • Give your service details to the minister.
  • Give the rings to the best man, along with a list of the service providers for troubleshooting on the day.

    1 Day ...

  • Rest and relax.
  • Nails and hair (including men) should be attended to.
  • Sleep early (if you can).

    0 Days ...

  • Let everyone else do as meticulously planned.

    GOOD LUCK!
